In the wake of comments from University of Delaware President, Dennis Assianis, alleging that in-state enrollment is low because in-state students are underprepared, Naveed responded arguing that the University of Delaware should bring college to our students, not just wait for enrollment:
“I would like to see a stronger commitment from UD to support the K-12 programs in areas where they require help to better prepare students for college.
Christina School District bears a responsibility to offer an option to its students to take as many early college courses as possible to ensure that they are prepared for college life, as well as have earned enough college credits while at high school to have a head start in college.
I am a big fan of UD’s latest offering of 10 free college-level courses each year (five rotating courses each semester) to any high school student across Delaware. Students complete their high school requirements in the first three years of high school and take UD’s early college courses during their senior year to they can start college as sophomores instead of freshmen.”
